Privacy Policy

Local storage and purpose

Jianjing Reader does not require an app account. Imported TXT/EPUB originals, book details, categories, reading positions, bookmarks, notes, underlines, statistics, cleanup rules and reading preferences are stored on your device for library management and reading. No novels are bundled, and there is no online book catalog or book download service.

Nicknames, signatures, avatars, shelf backgrounds and launch images personalize the app; built-in options are available. The app does not automatically upload your library or profile to a developer server. The current code contains no third-party advertising, behavioral analytics or cross-app tracking SDK.

iCloud sync and backups

iCloud sync and backups have separate opt-in switches and require an Apple Account, iCloud Drive, a network connection and an app signed with iCloud capabilities. Books and positions already saved locally remain available when the service is unavailable. Local saving does not confirm upload or arrival on another device.

Sync covers ordinary-library originals, book details, reading positions, bookmarks, notes, underlines, categories, trash status, historical statistics, and supported reading, shelf, appearance and profile preferences and images. App-lock and vault credentials, cloud consent switches, device brightness and temporary paths are excluded.

Backups are separate snapshots of ordinary-library originals, book details, positions, bookmarks, notes, trashed books, reading history and categories. They do not include the complete app preferences, custom profile images or the vault. Automatic backups check on launch or enablement, create at least 24 hours after the last successful creation and only when content changes. Back Up Now bypasses these limits. Creation, waiting for upload, system-confirmed upload and failure are distinguished.

iCloud files reside in your Apple Account space; the developer does not receive your iCloud credentials. Turning the switches off does not delete existing cloud files, copies on other devices or system backups. Existing cloud backups are not automatically pruned by this app. Apple services are governed by Apple's privacy policy.

App lock and vault

App lock controls access. Salted password-verification information is stored in the device Keychain; app lock does not encrypt the entire ordinary library. Face ID/Touch ID is verified by the system. The app receives the authentication result, not face or fingerprint templates.

Vault originals, covers and reading information are encrypted locally; credentials stay in the device Keychain. Reading creates temporary decrypted files protected by the system. They are removed on normal close, and interrupted temporary directories are removed on the next launch. Vault records are excluded from ordinary shelf search, statistics, widgets and new ordinary iCloud sync/backups. Relevant directories are marked as excluded from system backup.

Moving a book into the vault does not retract files previously shared, copies on other devices or existing cloud snapshots/files. Removing it from the vault returns it to the ordinary library and may upload it under enabled sync settings. Ordinary iCloud backups cannot recover the vault after a forgotten password, lost device or app deletion. Remove and independently back up books before migrating.

Files, photos and local network

File import reads files you choose through the system picker or explicitly provide to the app and saves local copies. Custom avatars, backgrounds and launch images receive selected images through the system photo picker; the app does not scan your entire photo library.

Wi-Fi transfer requires local-network permission and uses HTTP within the same network, without a developer upload server or verification code. While enabled, devices that can reach the address on that network can upload files; use a trusted private network. Done dismisses the panel; Stop Transfer stops the service. The service pauses in the system background and resumes in the foreground.

Speech, translation and widgets

Speech uses system speech synthesis; device-based interface translation uses the system Translation framework. Downloads of voice and language resources are managed by the system. The app has no developer-operated speech or translation server. Simplified/traditional book-text conversion is local.

The main app shares a necessary snapshot with its widgets through widget.json in its on-device App Group, including book title/ID, chapter progress, reading time, goals and calendar summaries. Book text and vault content are excluded. With app lock enabled, published widget titles, IDs and reading records are hidden; system refresh can be delayed.

Intentional search, sharing and support

When you choose web search, selected text is sent as a query to Baidu, Bing or Google, as chosen by you, and opened in the system browser. This happens only on your request; the selected service's policies govern subsequent processing.

System sharing sends selected text, notes, book files or statistics images to the app or recipient you choose. The app does not select recipients. A shared book can contain metadata from the complete original file; ensure you are entitled to share it.

The support address is huangquanapp@126.com. When you choose to email it, the developer receives your email address, message and attachments to respond, investigate and follow up, not for advertising. NetEase 126 Mail and your mail provider handle transmission/storage. There is no automatic feedback upload of logs or your library.

Retention, deletion and privacy requests

Trashed books retain originals and reading information. Permanent deletion removes the ordinary local book files and associated information; statistics can retain titles, deletion events and historical reading time. Clearing parsing caches does not remove originals, positions or notes. Local deletion does not erase old cloud originals, backups or shared content.

Uninstalling generally removes the app-container files, while the Keychain, system backups, iCloud and recipients' copies may need separate management. The developer does not automatically receive your library and cannot restore it from a developer server. Support mail is retained only as needed for handling, follow-up or applicable legal obligations. Contact the address to request access, correction or deletion of relevant information actually held by the developer.

Policy updates and website access

The app is published by Huang Quan (黄权). Contact huangquanapp@126.com. We update the date and content of this policy when our data practices change and obtain consent where required.

The support, privacy and guide pages are hosted on Tencent Cloud servers. When you visit, the server processes the IP address, request time, page address and browser information needed to deliver pages, maintain security and diagnose problems. The pages have no advertising or analytics scripts, cookies or browser local storage, and do not receive your app library or reading progress. Website technical records are kept only as long as needed to provide the service, troubleshoot, maintain security or meet applicable legal obligations, then deleted or anonymized.
